CURES Reporting Requirements for Direct Dispensing Practitioners

Pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 11190(c)(2)(A), practitioners that dispense controlled substances directly to their patients must report the dispensing information to the Department of Justice (DOJ). The required reporting must be done through Bamboo Health's PMP Clearinghouse. This application allows direct dispensing practitioners to electronically report the dispensing data required by DOJ.

Instructions on how to register for an account, enter information, and add information can be found on the PMP Clearinghouse website at

If you wish to provide feedback to the DOJ relating to the Direct Dispense application, please email

Notice to Licensees Regarding CURES Version Update — Data Submission Guide Now Available

Beginning August 1, 2024, all California dispensers of controlled substances will be required to report dispensations to the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) using the American Society of Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP) version 4.2B format. Licensees who dispense controlled substances should contact their data submission software provider to confirm they are prepared for this version update. Please visit the Office of the Attorney General's CURES Website to access the Data Submission guide for Dispensers and for additional updates and informational bulletins.
