Diversion Program

In June 2007, a report released by the Bureau of State Audits identified several ongoing problems with the Medical Board of California Diversion Program. In light of this report, the Medical Board voted not to support legislation to continue the Diversion Program. With no legislation introduced to extend the Diversion Program, a transition plan was established and approved by the Medical Board in November 2007. The plan identified the different groups of program participants and determined a course of action for each group following sunset of the Diversion Program. On July 1, 2008, the laws for the Diversion Program became inoperative and are repealed on January 1, 2009. Therefore, the Medical Board no longer has a Diversion Program.
